Are there any good health spas in/near London?

February 9th, 2010

Hi there,

I’m 15 and have applied for a weekend job in Evans. I’ve worked out that if I get the job I’ll be earning £280 a month, and I’m going to be putting most of that towards university, but I want to do a couple of things first:

1. I want to take my family out for a meal.
2. I want to take my mum out to a spa for a day so that she can FINALLY relax.

I know a brilliant restaurant, but I don’t know if there are any good health spas where I live- South East London, UK.

Can anyone give me a good site (OTHER than Yell.com, because I tried it, and the results were very ambiguous) where I can find a good health spa?

Look in Yellow Pages.

What’s the difference between a day spa and a health spa?

Health spa- very elaborate high-priced gym found in wealthy communities.
Day spa- where you go to get pampered NOT work out. You get your nails done, a massage, a pedicure, facials, steam room, given champagne…
Both are expensive.

Can you open a business and practice beauty treatments with only having NON VOCATIONAL course training?

February 9th, 2010

I had a bad experience at a new beauty place. I had enquired as to qualifications prior to booking and was informed that they were fully qualified. Mid way through treatment I asked where the girl had gone to school (as there are 2 girls that work there) and was informed that they hadn’t but had taken a few non vocational courses a few years back. They even joked that they had to pay for a proper pedicure to refresh themselves on what to do. They thought opening a business would be ‘fun’!
I want to see where I can complain to whether it be Trading Standards or the local council. I don’t even think they are insured.

Any advice as to where I can do this. I am not the only person who has had a bad experience.

Thanks!

As long as you have NOT suffered any kind of negligence or injury during or after treatment and the girls working in the salon are insured, you don’t have much of a case against them I’m affraid.

Any good ideas for beauty treatment recipes?

February 9th, 2010

You know, facials, masks, stuff like that for skin, hair, hands, feet, whatever (: Even some sort of lip balm (: Recipes and links are appreciated (: Thank you!

if you get avocado, put it in a food processor till it is mushy, then put it on your hair for about 20 minutes, your hair will feel super soft and healthy.
i did this, and it felt AMAZING.

also, if you get an egg and mix it with olive oil, put it in your hair for about 15-20 minutes; after you shampoo, and whilst your hair is still warm (this will ‘cook’ the egg) this will give your hair a brilliant shine.

i just looked up ‘beauty recipies’ on google, and this website come up:
http://www.makeyourowncosmetics.com/
i flicked through some pages, and it looked like something you would be intreseted in.

hope i helped.

I am looking for a classy, sophisticated, beauty salon spa name?

February 9th, 2010

I am planning to open a beauty salon and spa. We will specialize in hair extensions, master cuts, highlights, nails, air brush makeup, esthetics (skin, wrinkle) procedures, and carry namebrand handbags & clothes.

Well something that means simple…or classy is "Vanilla"…so maybe something like "It’s Just Vanilla"…or "It’s Vanilla"…or "Simply Vanilla"…I like those but you might not…lol…but good luck with your business!:-)

How do i open up a Beauty Salon in North Carolina?

February 9th, 2010

I just moved to North Carolina, i have owned several Beauty Salons in New York. Out here in North Carolina things are different. I need to know what steps i need to take in order for me to open a new salon.

First, find a location that will counteract your being new in the area. Second, make sure you have sufficient capital to launch a media blitz to let folks know you’re in business. Finally, contact the State Cosmetology Board for exact licensing requirements and the city clerk for local business licenses

Good Luck!

How important was beauty to ancient greeks?is beauty more or less important to us today?

February 9th, 2010

is beauty the same for all people?or do peoples interpretations of beauty differ depending on their culture and values?is beauty always good?is good always beauty?

Views of beauty always change. However, ours seems to be similar to that of the Greeks. However, if you look at the middle ages, the bigger a woman was the prettier she was. I do not think that beauty is always good because of the implications it can have. Conforming to this so called beauty has caused many people lots of problems. Rather than appreciating themselves, people would rather go anorexic or bulimic to conform to societies standards. But to me, good is always beauty because that is how I see it. Remember, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.. (cliche but true :P )
Hope that helped… Good luck
