How do you get kids excited about science and technology?

That’s the question UL posed to us here at Genuine. As inventors at our core, we knew we needed to create a super cool digital experience that would really appeal to kids. And, what better way to do that then by crushing, burning, breaking and blowing things up?

Teaching science today demands new, never-before-seen levels of science comprehension from middle school teachers. And, at the same time, these 6th, 7th & 8th graders are at an age where science, tech, engineering and mathematics are far from top-of-mind.
Our in-house experiential and tech teams joined forces with UL and their highly regarded Testing Labs where scientists safely burn, blow up, stress, and crush familiar products like batteries and hoverboards to ensure they’re safe for consumers.
Leveraging those core fundamentals, we built a virtual safety science learning platform that connects safety science - and the extreme nature of those tests - to the basic STEM subjects, scientific literacy and innovations students see all around them.
The result is a digital experience now used by hundreds of teachers and kids who are inquiring why a phenomenon happens. And, we think that’s phenomenal.
On September 25th 2017, so did Mediapost! The publication’s renowned OMMA Awards awarded UL and Genuine’s XplorLabs the Gold in the “Non-Profit Website” category.
